• I am a sound designer, composer and music editor working mainly in Film/TV, Podcasts, Performing and Visual Arts.

More importantly, I’m a wholehearted creative. Someone who truly loves the process, and nurtures the outcome.

Sound is the medium at my disposal. I’ve been training my ears for a very long time. Over decades, I have developed the necessary tools and techniques to translate my vision into sound.

I work with flexible ideas / concepts that take inspiration from a a great variety of sources. And I assimilate, shape and translate those ideas into different forms of expression.

  • I am member of BAFTA Connect and some of my film and TV credits include:

    • Music programming on the 2023 Cannes Film Festival opening film “Jeanne du Barry” (dir. Maïwenn).

    • Music editing on “RAPA”, the TV series produced by Movistar+.

    • Music programming on the Academy Award winner for Best Picture at the Oscars 2022, “CODA” (dir. Sian Heder).

    • Assistant to music producer, Marius de Vries, on “Annette” (dir. Leos Carax).

I work regularly as a sound designer, composer and mixer on podcasts and radio. I am currently working for The Guardian (“Pop Culture with Chanté Joseph”). I have worked for BBC Sounds, Channel 4 News, Tortoise Media, The Conversation and Tinder UK.

In 2020, I released my album “Hologram”, which was positively reviewed in the music magazine “The Wire: Adventures in Sound and Music”, and was played on BBC Radio 6 Music and NTS Radio.

I also arrange and produce music for other artists and work on both the creative and technical side of performing and visual arts, such as art installations, dramatic theatre and live music. For some of these projects I worked at the National Theatre and RADA (London, UK) and toured with artists such as Jóhann Jóhannsson.

  • I was born in Venezuela and grew up in Madrid, where I started studying music at the age of 7. After many years of determined practice and thorough education I became a professional percussionist and began playing with contemporary music ensembles and orchestras, such as the Spanish National Orchestra.

I studied the fundamentals of composition under the tuition of internationally acclaimed composer Alberto Posadas. The years with Alberto were essential to my appreciation of music. Through his authentic approach to teaching, he opened our ears to a universe of possibilities and exploration like no one else had. I also learnt from him what embracing a life really committed to writing music that you believe in could look like.

A few years after working as a music teacher and a freelance percussionist, I landed my first job on a theatre production in Madrid, at the National Classical Theatre Company of Spain (CNTC). I played percussion with a baroque ensemble on stage for the successful production of “Life is a Dream”, directed by Helena Pimenta. After that, I began working with other theatre companies and touring around Spain. The experiences and the friendships I formed with actors, writers and directors were essential to my decision of investing more time in working behind the scenes as opposed to performing.

I completed my most recent studies at the Royal College of Music (London), where I did a Master in Composition for Screen (Film/TV).

I also studied and attended masterclasses with some of the most renowned contemporary music figures, such as Steven Schick, Christian Dierstein, David Lang, Georges Aperghis, Jeniffer Walshe, Rebecca Saunders, Chaya Czernowin, Nick Woud, Gustavo Gimeno and many others.

I now spend most of my time sound designing, composing and working on multidisciplinary projects such as film, podcast and theatre.
